Welcome to Ramnagar High School
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Ramnagar High School. It is a great privilege to be the Head Master of such a thriving school community where high aspirations and a caring family ethos are at the heart of what we do.
Ramnagar High School was established on 10th February,1909 under the joint leadership of late Girish Chandra Mitra, a resident of Ramnagar and Satish Chandra Ghosh,a resident of Khatnagar. Today Ramnagar High School (H.S) has been upgraded under the patronage of innumerable educated people. The school has become a place of pilgrimage in the footsteps of wise musicians and students and teachers. As the TIC of the school, I would like to express my gratitude to all the generous educators who have extended their full support to the progressives of this school since its inception.
The students of the school are our capital and absolute affection. Eighty percent of the students in our school come from backward poor families. The environment of this school, the patronage of the management committee, the teachers, the Non-teaching staff, with the affection, tenderness and love of the people, make the needy a constant companion. He became proficient in sports at cultural events, quiz competitions conducted by the science department and training of young teachers. The pass rate of the students in the secondary and higher secondary examinations is commendable every year. Our students get the expected success in the government and private competitive examinations. The reputation of this school in sports is intact. Rabindra Sardha Shatavarsha (2011) and Swami Vivekananda Sardhashatvarsha (2012) celebrations have gained fame in the region. The school became “Aparupa Tilottama” in the ceremony of cultural program.
Finally, I pray to the Father of the Most Merciful World that All are happy, everyone is healed and Everyone is a worshiper of beauty and sorrow should not make a home in anyone’s life.
Learning by involvement
Learning should be fun. Students joining schools are like shapeless chunks of stones, hidden in them are fairies and angels. A good teacher will curve out beautiful figures of fairies and angels out of these stones like master sculptors. Lack of affection on and guidance can turn them into Satans in hell. Life of students has become stressful due to undue pressures from parents and teachers and society. Homework, continuous assessment, stiff competition and high expectations are driving them mad. Students are still required to do a lot of memorizing for examination. Teaching and assessment should be such as their ability to understand the subjects being taught and to think of new things is developed. They should be encouraged to accept challange. Ultimately, they will be the agents of change. A word of caution about handling briliant students. While talent should be nurtured, ‘child prodigy’ should be guarded against misuse. Ofter parents and others exploit them by focusing their extraordinary skills before the public for publicity and money. They are also used in advertisements. In the process, children lose their childhood and ultimately the goal of their life. Under no circumstances, children be robbed of their childhood.

Teaching is a team work
The role of dedicated and motivated teachers in the task of nation- building is vital. Such teachers will be the source of inspiration to students who will choose them as their role models. To acheive excellence in teaching, teachers should be given free hand to pursure their own strategies including the mode of assessment of the performance of students. They should be encouraged to acquire new skills and to updare their knowledge in the course they teach. There must be sufficient monetary and social incentivies so that they can integrate their aspirations with the serving organization. Teaching is a noble profession. But it is a perishable commodity. Preserve it against its degradation. Sometimes, a few dishonest teachers harm the cause of entire teaching community. They look at teaching job as one of the easy ways of earning money. They waste their energies in running coaching classes. It has been reported that some of them have been harassing the students for not joining their private tuition classes.
